About Popular Art Workshops
In this place to visit spot you can get to know the popular art workshops located in 13 communities of Mérida, where 51 Mayan women work in the Kichpancoole cooperative. They work 14 traditional techniques in the different workshops: Jiji Japa, Urido de Henequén, Hammocks, Hand Embroidery, Cutting and Making, Henequen Bags, Filigree, Stone, Pedal Loom, Horn, Sansiviera Desfibrado, Seeds, Candles and Soaps . During the explanation will learn the process of development and the skill with which they handle the technique, each lasts approximately between 20 to 40 minutes, depending on the difficulty of it. The workshops are located in the communities of: Granda, Hacienda Santa Rosa, Santo Domingo, Parador Turístico de Ochil, Chunchucmil, Peba, San Antonio Chun, Itzincab, Hacienda San Antonio Millet, Dzibzilche, Kikil and Hacienda Temozón.
