Take a bus at the Cancun bus station that will take you to Chiquilá; the trip lasts approximately 3 hours; in Chiquilá walk about 300 meters to board the ferry to Holbox Island. Another option is to take a taxi in Cancun that will take you to Chiquilá.
Ferries to Holbox leave from Chiquilá every half hour, from 6 am to 9:30 pm, with two companies providing the service, both with the same price. The duration of the trip is approximately 30 min.
TIPS:
- Buy, at least one day in advance, your bus ticket to Chiquilá as it may be that you arrive at the central and they are exhausted.
- On the bus they sell ferry tickets at the same cost as at the box office and with the advantage that as soon as you arrive in Chiquilá you can board the ferry without having to queue at the box office.
- Taking a taxi that takes you from the pier to your hotel is the best option to avoid pulling your suitcase between the sandy streets of the island.
