About Festival de la Luz y de la Vida

Event that takes place for the Day of the Dead festivities in Mexico. Offerings, exhibition of the cosmogonic sawdust rug, music, gastronomy, contests and dances.

The representation of the path of the deceased to their final resting place begins with the lighting of candles that illuminate the Great Offering of the Thousand Lights; the participants, torch in hand, begin the march from the Downtown to the Chignahuapan Lagoon (1.5 km approx), where with colored lights, dancers and a floating pyramid guarded by skulls, the journey of souls is narrated until reaching Mictlán.

Don't miss the grand altar, the Mictlán viewpoint, the tapestries, and the mural area.
Tickets can be purchased at:
• Chigahuapan Municipal Treasury
• Chigahuapan Tourism Office
Important! Children under 5 years old do not need a ticket, but since seating is assigned, they must share their space with an adult.

👉 Thing to do in Chignahuapan >>

In my experience, these were definitely 3 things that made me enjoy this experience at 💯

1. I bought the tickets in advance to ensure my entry to the show.

2. I booked my Hotel room several days before arriving. This was very important because, with so many visitors, you could easily find yourself without a place to sleep.

3. I wore warm clothes, since the presentation is outdoors and in the cold season, oh and I also brought a raincoat, better safe than sorry.
