About The Izapa Archaeological Site

It is considered one of the most extensive ceremonial centers in the Soconusco region. At the Izapa site, 161 structures were erected in a fairly large area but around a dominant point, the greater mound. Among its building and squares, there are about 252 monuments, almost a hundred carved stone steles, altars and other stone representations.
